conclude, deduce, gather, infer, judge

这几个词的共同意思是“推断”。其区别在于:infer指从不太充分的论据或前提中推断出结论; conclude指通过推理或判断而得出结论; deduce指有充分根据地推论或逻辑上地演绎; gather指综合事物得出印象或感想等; judge通常指经过仔细鉴定或评价之后作出的决断。例如:

finish与complete基本同义，着重圆满地结束或完成已着手的事。

end最普通用词，着重事情的完成。也指某种活动因达到目的而自然结束或由于某种原因而突然中止。

close普通用词，着重行为的终止或结束，不强调其目的。

conclude正式用词，多指以某事或活动达到预期目的而告终。

terminate强调有一个空间和时间的限度，届时必须终止。书面语用词。

accomplish正式用词，强调一个过程的完成；也可指依靠努力达到一定目的，或取得一定的结果。
