1. decide的基本意思是“决定”,指一人或多人对某一事实、行动、方针引起怀疑、动摇、争议,经过比较、思考、商议或研究后拿定主意,作出选择或判断,决定是与非、取与舍,含有不再疑惑、踌躇或争执的意味。引申可表示“肯定”“断定”。
2. decide用作不及物动词时,通常跟介词about或on〔upon〕。跟on〔upon〕连用时表示“就重大事情作出决定”或在多种情况〔事物〕中“作出选择”; 与about连用时表示“就一般事情作出决定”。

decide sth 意为“决定”“解决”,表示解决某个悬而未决的问题,使用范围较窄,一般接question, case, argument, dispute, outcome, match, fate等; 而decide on sb/sth 意思是“选定”“决定”,表示从几个事物或人中选定一个,使用范围较广。

这两个短语都有“决定”的意思。其区别在于:

1.必须作出决定而涉及的一般事物用 about ,已决定的事情用on。例如:

We still have to decide about a date for the meeting.我们还得决定一个开会的日期。
