In addition to the uses shown below,without is used in the phrasal verbs ‘do without’, ‘go without’, and ‘reckon without’.

You usewithout to indicate that someone or something does not have or use the thing mentioned.

e.g. I don't like myselfwithout a beard...

2.在没有(发生或做某事)的情况下
If one thing happenswithout another thing, or if you do somethingwithout doing something else, the second thing does not happen or occur.

e.g. They workedwithout a break until about eight in the evening...

prep.(介词)

1. without作“无,没有”解时其后可接动名词(短语),表示“没有做某事”,动名词短语中动名词常可省略。
2. 在口语中, without后的宾语如可在上下文中找到或笼统地指一种状况而不是指任何具体事物,则该宾语可省略。
3. not without是双重否定,实际仍是肯定,语气较委婉。no〔not, never〕...without结构也是双重否定,用以加强语气。
