两者均可表示“增加”。其区别在于:前者主要指自身数量、重量、价值、程度、力量等增加,多用于不可触知的事物; 而后者是指将某物加在另一物上,使之在数量、体积、重要性等方面有所增加。例如:

We had better increase the amount.我们最好把数量再增加一些。

I increased the amount of water to be added during cooking.烧饭时我增加了该加的水量。
